Holistic approach to security makes all the difference

At Crossjoin, the mission is to ensure that customers’ IT is secure, efficient and prepared for any challenge in an ever-changing digital world. Partnership with company operating in the UK and Canada safeguards data of 15 million customers.

In today’s context, any security breach can have serious consequences, both financially and for the company’s reputation. The number of intrusions into organizations—both nationally and internationally—is increasing exponentially. Therefore, “it’s essential that companies adopt a proactive stance by implementing robust security strategies to mitigate risks before it’s too late,” warns Tiago Alcobia, head of security and architect at Crossjoin Solutions, a strategic partner that guarantees security and control of its clients’ entire IT ecosystem. “Our security offering is designed to allow companies to take full control of the security of their operations, ensuring not only maximum IT performance – with the guarantee that it is always available and fast – but also proactively managing risks and protecting the business from cybersecurity threats,” adds consultant Rui Soares.

Crossjoin Solutions’ approach is end-to-end, with four main security services: Pentesting, which aims to help clients identify and correct security vulnerabilities or misconfigurations before they can be exploited by malicious actors; Application Security (DevSecOps), which ensures that cybersecurity is integrated into the software development lifecycle and is a responsibility shared by the entire team;

Threat and vulnerability assessment, which includes the analysis of IT ecosystems and implements effective and proactive strategies to safeguard assets and ensure operational resilience; and Governance, Risk and Compliance, which ensures that infrastructures and applications comply with security standards and regulations (ISO 27001, NIS2, PCI DSS, DORA, AI Act, etc.), minimizing legal risks and providing a robust and compliant security environment.

MORE SECURE DATA

Specialized know-how and a holistic approach are, in Tiago Alcobia‘s words, the main distinguishing factors in Crossjoin’s solution. The technology company’s clients, who work in sectors such as public administration, telecommunications, insurance and finance, and who deal with highly confidential data on a daily basis, have the answer to their challenges in this solution. “The security of this data is an absolute priority,” he emphasizes.

One of the recent examples he points to is that of a multinational insurance company that offers products such as life, car and investment insurance to more than 15 million people, with operations in the UK and Canada, which was migrating to a new customer portfolio management platform and wanted to ensure that vulnerabilities and threats were identified before the new solution was launched. This, which would be hosted in the cloud, would have to safeguard the data of millions of customers. “The challenge was compounded by the fact that this platform was integrated with a SaaS (Software as a Service) provider, which meant that the entire solution needed to be assessed holistically, including communication between them, to mitigate or eliminate risks and ensure that it was prepared against the greatest number of vulnerabilities and attack vectors from malicious actors,” explains Tiago Domingues.

The consultant also revealed that during the audit carried out by Crossjoin, critical points and opportunities for improvement in the solution were identified. “We worked with the client to mitigate or eliminate them and prevent exfiltration and exposure of sensitive data,” he added. Once the solution had been implemented, the client was able to reduce the risk of intrusions and exposure of sensitive information, strengthen security through continuous improvement processes, increase resilience to cyberattacks and now has the guarantee of a secure development lifecycle.
