Crossers Around the World: Gonçalo’s History

Gonçalo Falcão is in UK for about one year, more precisely in Newbury, and he’s one of our Performance Architects and Delivery Managers at our client.

Gonçalo never worked outside Portugal, so when Crossjoin challenged him to go abroad, he didn’t hesitate! It was an opportunity for personal and professional growth that he couldn’t miss and he confessed to us that it has been an incredible experience.

Although it wasn’t hard to adapt to the city, traffic was one factor that required more time to get used to. In UK, traffic moves in the opposite direction of what we are used to so, sometimes, he gets scared  while crossing the road. On the other hand, he is still adapting to the weather conditions, which are so different from our Portuguese climate. He misses the sun and the heat (we clearly know how he feels).

Our “Crosser” really likes the city of Newbury: he considers it calm and friendly. It’s a city that has been growing and developing thanks to our client’s project. Crossjoin gave him the possibility to have his own house, and due to this fact, he brought his wife with him, contributing to a smoother transition.

There’s a Portuguese and Brazilian community there that get together on Fridays to have dinner in certain restaurants. We were advised to try the “PieMinister Pies” at Catherine Wheel, which is known to be a “must-see” place (we now feel the need to visit Gonçalo and try this delicacy ourselves :P).

Regarding the professional side, the adaptation was even easier. Crossjoin’s support with the Competence Center is fundamental in order to help overcome the obstacles that arise. The diversity of challenges in the client is vast. It is often necessary to rely on our experts from the Competence Center, specialized in different technologies, in order to solve problems in a timely manner.
This is what he values the most at Crossjoin, the spirit of mutual help and the constant level of demand, to ensure the best possible delivery to the customer. Therefore, Gonçalo does not have a slight regret about accepting the proposal to work abroad.

He is loving the experience that Crossjoin made possible to him! He feels that he is evolving every day along with the projects that he is part of, and, at the same time, he is constantly being challenged and valued.

A success story!
Thank you Gonçalo, for sharing your experience with us!
